Day II

Today, while traveling to wherever we were going, Conner lectured us about Carthya.

By late afternoon, we arrived at a large estate.

Turns out if was Conner's home.

He said it was called Farthenwood.

We were each assigned a servant.

Mine was named Errol.

He told me he had been instructed to give me a bath, but I wouldn't let him.

I made him wait outside while I bathed.

Except I didn't.

I climbed out the window and had a look around Farthenwood.

When I returned, Errol was calling my name.

I pretended to have fallen asleep, and told him I would be done soon.

The water was cold, but I quickly washed whatever areas of my body would be visible after I dressed.

After I dressed, Errol inspected me and told me I still smelled like an orphanage.

He insisted on helping me rewash myself.

I was surprised at how much dirt came off.

After redressing, I asked Errol where my old clothes were.

He told me that they had been taken to be burned.

I told him to get them back, and that if he did, I would get him a silver coin for his service.

After that, I went to dinner.

Conner was seated at the end of the table, with Tobias and me to his right and left.

Roden was seated furthest away from him, and he was clearly distressed about it.

The food was glorious.

I thanked the girl who served me the soup, and asked her what kind it was, but she just frowned and stayed silent.

Conner was prattling on about which silverware to use.

He told me to stop using my left hand, but at least he picked on Roden and Tobias too.

After dessert, Conner told all the servants to leave the room.

He said he was ready to tell us his plan.
